9 Sins is album #3 from California's Taunted and my first time hearing the band. Dark, aggressive Power/Thrash is what Taunted are all about and, as the album title might imply, there's more than a passing evil vibe you feel when listening to them. The production is sharp and modern while the music successfully avoids the latter. Singer Jaques Serrano's powerful, diabolical bellow and screaming abilities reminds me of a young Jon Oliva. Guitarists Matt Gower and Joey Genoni unleash an onslaught of angry riffs while Henry Moreno (drums) and Elena Repetto-Luciano (bass) make sure there are no gaps in Taunted's impressive wall of sound. 'Tower of the Hellions" has the catchiest chorus and is my favorite track and there are no weak songs on 9 Sins, just nothing overly spectacular either. If a mix of early Savatage and A Tortured Soul sounds good to you, like it does to me, you owe it to yourself to check out Taunted's 9 Sins.
