Calling your album "Heavy Metal" bespeaks either a massive ego, or a complete lack of any kind of imagination. T.I.R. ("Temple Inferno Rock" - no really) are an Italian band with a stupid name and a definite lack of imagination, though I can't say about the ego part. This is - no shock - a very straight-up Heavy Metal album with pummeling drums, twin-axe riffs, and hideously accented vocals. Not that this is really bad, it's just kind of unnecessary. There's a definite difference between paying homage to your influences, and just aping them awkwardly in the hopes that anyone will be impressed. This album falls more in the latter category, as while this is played with energy and verve, the songwriting is strictly pedestrian, the recording is lackluster, and nothing really stands out as memorable. |
