This is a fun album of hell-blasting Death/Thrash from a never-heard-of-them band from Illinois of all fucking places - and no, not Chicago. Combining a thrashy riff style, Death heaviness, and a blackened attitude, The Horde crank out an album that has almost no depth, but it comes galloping out in high gear and kicks you in the face with pretty much every track. Songs like "Hell Beast of the Pale Frost" and "Into War We Ride" are blazing shreds of pounding steel, and they even work in a more pugilistic touch on songs like "Odin's Blood" and "Supertusk" - recalling an almost Usurper kind of sound. Vocals are very Thrash, being harsh yet intelligible, meaning you can make out the gleefully metal lyrics. This is not any kind of sissy poser shit here, this kills. |
