Rejoice! It's a female-fronted gothic metal album with a stipulation... Oh wait no it's just a male vocalist included too. TBC are an Austrian act, and The Rise is their second full-length album. I can guarantee you've heard this before and done better. If ever there were a completely stagnant style of music then it's this kind of stuff. I'm sure people some people genuinely like female-fronted gothic metal, yet, outside a handful or acts this style just isn't for me. Everything you would expect from the genre is here, and you can pretty much tick off your checklist of what you're looking for, although be sure to add an extra helping of dull to the vocals (the female ones at least). Funnily enough, had they kept to their male vocals this album would have completely benefitted from it. This isn't bad, but I seriously couldn't care for it. Fans of this stuff should check it out though, as some of the music is cool enough. |
