Take Melodic Death Metal, mix with some Heavy Metal and stick to clean vocals and you get The Embodied. As a result this barely qualifies for the genre, but it feels close enough. The vocals aren't all that great and I found them a bit annoying most of the time, and some of the lyrics would fit a hell of a lot better on an emo album – you know something is wrong when you look at the speakers and yell "are you fucking kidding me?" Musically this is somewhat decent for the genre, nothing more nothing less. But if you own a few melodeath albums, you've heard that before, except for the nearly constant use of clean vocals. Not something I'd listen to ever again, but the band's style will attract some people. |
