If 80s Thrash is your thing, you owe the artist development department at Endless Brutality of Men a round. Tormenter's Pulse of Terror is the fourth album from EBM that I've reviewed recently and it sounds as if it just came from a 25 year old time capsule. The standard disclaimer, "nothing new here," certainly applies, but that's no mark against Tormenter. The aggressive riffing and sharp solos will soon push that concern from your mind. Everything is played unrelentingly fast, just as good, old school Thrash should be played. The sneering, punk vocals are a weak spot (along with the overall unoriginality of the music) because they give a bit too much of a Hardcore vibe in places. Fans of the 80s output from bands like Annihilator, Exodus and Forbidden can pick up Pulse of Terror with little reservation. |
