The last Axenstar album I heard was Far From Heaven years and years ago. In that time this band has gone down the path of so many Power Metal bands who wish they could win Eurovision. They have dumbed down their riffs and arrangements into pretty much just big-sounding background rhythms and made the vocals and keys the focus of the melodies. Their problem is that singer Magnus Winterwild is just not that great. He carries a tune but he's not really charismatic or compelling. This is smoothly produced and agreeable, but it's not really anything but pop music. |
