Wow, I don't know if I have ever heard another band that sounds more like classic Entombed. I could pretty much leave it at that and you would know what you need to know, but a one-line review seems flippant. Bastard Priest are from (surprise!) Sweden, and this is their debut full-length, though "full-length" is a bit misleading, as even including re-recordings of the five songs off their demo from '07 this thing is only 33 minutes long. Still, that's not any different from a lot of other death bands, so I'm not docking any points for it. So this is not massively original, or even a little bit, but it is a skull-ripping festival of slashing riffs and brutal smashing. Bastard Priest may sound almost exactly like Left Hand Path era Entombed, but they are doing a fucking awesome job of it. |
