A hideous mating between the stop-start approach of annoying prog and the syncopated rhythms and awful vocals of groove metal, this is like Linkin Park or Disturbed infused with the pomposity and pretension of Dream Theater. The riffs are all hamstrung by being simple groove constructions with no shade or dynamic to them, and the vocals are horrible yells mixed with trendy clean singing overlaid with a slimy layer of effects. I really cannot adequately express in words how fucking irritating and idiotic this music really is, as it is akin to someone reading Proust to try and seem smart, only on closer examination they are holding the book upside-down. A failure on every single level that music is capable of failing on, and I only review it here because it is so completely terrible that it cannot be allowed to pass without comment. |
