Pagan/Folk is what is on offer from this Spanish band. It's a rather "quiet" album in that the "metal content" is somewhat limited, with many tracks being folk songs devoid of any metal either in entirety or in large part. Not that the songs are bad, mind you, but I'm reviewing metal here. The highlight for me are the female vocals – incidentally found on those non-metal songs/parts. Very soothing voice, a delight for the ears and a very good performance. There are also some Black Metal-style raspy vocals, which usually kick in when a song goes into metal mode. Quite a contrast, I must say.
Overall the album feels disjointed because of the great contrast between the styles used and, of course, when sitting down to listen to a metal album, one doesn't expect so much "quiet space". The shift between styles can be a little hard to take at times as well. The problem here is not the musicians' performance, but rather how the album feels as a whole. Either way, it's at the very least an interesting listen.
