Goddamn I loves me some Municipal Waste. Their last album The Art of Partying was one of my favorite ones of 2007, and this album does not stray far from the winning formula except in terms of lyrical content. Whereas their previous releases were more about partying, drinking, smoking, partying, food fights, and partying (Municipal Waste are pretty much the Andrew W.K. of Crossover Thrash, and no this is not a bad thing) this release shows the band venturing off into newer more serious territory. Songs like "Upside Down Church" and "Media Skeptic" are perfect examples of how the band is trying to send more of a message in their music, and while this may seem off-putting at first, in the end the songs never feel preachy and still retain the signature Municipal Waste sound.

The album contains thirteen songs and clocks in at less than 30 minutes so you know the Waste aren't trying to change up their sound too much. The bass is still heavy and fast-as-hell, the vocals are still going to piss off trve metal purists, and tracks like "Mech-Cannibal" and "Wrath of the Severed Head" ensure that the band members still aren't taking themselves too seriously. Some songs have a more melodic, less "in-your-face" feel at points... just enough to add diversity while retaining the whole Crossover Thrash sound, and I would love to see Municipal Waste expand on this and possibly create a new album with a different feel to it, just for kicks. Then again, why fix what ain't broke? This is some damn good head banging music...

The best track on the album is "Acid Sentence," which has a very Slayer-esque feel to it that is sure to induce whiplash and should be checked out by any Thrash fan. Massive Aggressive is a must-have for Municipal Waste fan, but if you never got into the band then this isn't going to change your mind.
