I have no idea how to pronounce this band's name, but if you told me it was pronounced "Enthroned" I would not say you were full of shit. This is a Belgian band (like Enthroned) who play hyperfast old-school Black Metal (like Enthroned) and who have a guy named Nguaroth who screeches and plays guitar (like Enthr-oh, wait, it's the same guy). On one hand, the level of similarity to old Enthroned is impossible to ignore, but on the other, Enthroned have been wasting my time with crap like Tetra Karcist, so this is quite welcome. High-speed blasting with good leads, some good riffs, and vocals that are a dead ringer for Sabathan make this like another Towards The Skullthrone of Satan, only Aguynguerran have a bit more melodic sense than that, and play with a degree of musicality unknown to the early Enthroned albums. This is a better disc than Enthroned usually managed, and certainly better than anything since Carnage In Worlds Beyond. If you miss the bad old days of Lord Sabathan and Co, then you will enjoy this as thoroughly as I do. Derivative, but killer anyway. |
