Morbid Path is a relatively new Melodic Death Metal band hailing from Israel. The Nightfall demo hovers between a dark and aggressive style (sometimes with a blackened touch) and a more upbeat one that's not without reminding me of the basic sound of some epic folk metal bands. Interesting mix that keeps that "play" button busier than the "stop" one. ;) The vocals themselves stick to an aggressive, Black/Death style, kind of a mix of growls and screeches - it just plain fits, and the very low, almost "mellow" growls are an great match for the most melodic musical passages - very cool. What's most noticeable is the guitar work, the players showcasing quite a bit of their talent in such a short release. Lots of catchy solos and invigorating melodies just beg for a replay. The sound is very demo-like, so don't expect too much on that side of things (it's nice to hear a demo that sounds like a demo from time to time. :)) It'll be interesting to see what these guys come up with when they graduate to a "proper release" status. |
