Ticket to Hell have packed quite a few sounds into this debut album - there's a solid old school Thrash base, and from this spurs anything from Melodic Death Metal to Death Metal and there's even a hint of Black Metal hidden in there as well. Just the same, the vocals vary quite a bit. Growls, rasps, melodeath-style à la The Crown, and cleaner vocals that don't sound all that great but are still tolerable (and in the minority here.) The music is quite fast paced, rarely ever slowing down, and the overall feel is rather upbeat, despite a genre that usually caters to darker, gloomier things. It's not exactly original, but there's a good job done here in regards to blending all these genres together and coming up with a good set of songs. I'm not sure about its lasting value, but it sure gets the job done while it's on (and considering that I can't get the title track out of my head, there are at least a few remains afterwards.) Worth checking out. |
