I know Blut Aus Nord get a lot of good press, and I have not heard their earlier works, but this is a pretty damned lackluster album. Odinist is going for a kind of depressive Forgotten Tomb kind of vibe with the bleak songs and the echo-laden guitar-tone, but it lacks anything resembling good riffs or hooks, and the songs all sound exactly the same. The guitars just kind of bash aimlessly, and the vocals are an omnipresent gargling rasp. I would say more about this, but there is not much to say. Even if you like this kind of orthodox, philosophical Black Metal, this is not a great release in the genre. Skip it.
