In the encyclopedia, under "Death Metal", it should list this band, especially under the definition of 'Face-ripping, bone-snapping Death Metal from Hell'. Spun In Darkness are a US band making their debut, and with Birthright they have kicked the living shit out of just about every other Death Metal release this year. This is just it, man. This is Death Metal made up of killer riffs and a thick, chunky guitar tone that chugs like a damned locomotive. No clean vocals, no acoustic bullshit, just buzzsaw guitars ripping off your head and fucking the neck-hole. At last, somebody remembers how to do it right. Killers like "In Cold Blood" and "Nocturnal" share space with fucking horned killers like "Arrival Of Prey" and "Bonesaw". The only variance here is how hard the song kills compared to the others, there are no bad tracks here. For old-school slaughtering like I have not heard since the glory days of Asphyx, Spun In Darkness cannot be beat. Highly Recommended. |
