There is something that ruins this album and we might as well get it over with right away: The predominant use of screamo metalcore-ish vocals. I'll never see the appeal. Thankfully, when he doesn't scream as if his bandmates were sodomizing him, the vocalist uses a more thrash-like style, in a style reminiscent of some of Slayer's material, as well as a more Death/Thrash style. I wish the band had chosen that path rather than try to appeal to the core kids. Oh well.

Musically, things are less traumatic. The style is mostly a groovy form of Death Metal, sometimes falling into a more melodic style and even going all thrash at times. Unfortunately there are a few core elements creeping in from time to time, but not bad enough to ruin the music (the vocals already took care of that anyway.) From slow grooves all the way to speedy blast beats and matching guitars, along with the occasional "fuck yeah" moments that show these guys can do it right when they want to, this sure isn't a monotonous album. Frankly if this were an instrumental album, there wouldn't be all that much to complain about. Maybe a bit too catchy for the average Death Metal listener, but it could bring in a few thrash and melodic death fans.

Overall a decent album with more than its share of annoyances. Frankly, if these guys were to drop all the core garbage, they would be a rather good metal band, rather than a second-rate hybrid. Next time maybe?
