A compilation with a twist here, since Testament's five album output on Spitfire Records includes two live albums. So you get a compilation of live and studio songs from "Live at the Fillmore", "Demonic", "The Gathering", "First Strike Still Deadly" and "Live in London". As a result, not only do you get "best of" material from their studio albums on Spitfire, but also live versions of classics such as "The New Order", "Souls of Black" and "Practice What You Preach" (nice way to start the album.) The booklet is a bit of a deception, only listing the tracks with credits and a two-page mini-bio written by the editor of Explicitely Intense Magazine. A booklet packed with information and pictures could have given it some added value. As it is, there's next to no incentive for the Testament fan to get this, except for completists. But those who don't know the band and want to sample a snapshot of their career will find something to like here. Same goes for those went the grunge way and didn't know the band had done anything after 1989. Could we get a new studio album now please? ;)
