Well this will certainly be a curveball for the Tad Morose fans who decided to check out their back catalogue. This is Pre-Urban Breed Tad Morose who were a completely different outfit altogether; still very powerful, as you'd expect from them, but also much more progressive. I suppose they didn't start rehearsing next door to Morgana Lefay yet, so the music is very different ;) although almost just as good.

Urban Breed is a great vocalist, but Kristian Andren here is no minnow at his game either. His vocals give great energy and although your guess is as good as mine in trying to imagine how Breed would have filled the shoes here, Andren does the job flawlessly and is one of the highlights of the band. In addition, the riffing department on "Leaving The Past Behind" is a massive boot-to-ass. The album opener starts off quite slow and eventually gets to a point where it completely floors the listener with its riffs and vocals. Most songs here would follow suit.

As you would expect from prog, the songs aren't quite "simple" here. However Tad Morose never ventured into musical masturbation territory and managed to keep it interesting and full of energy at all times. The trick is the melodies that really do it. I'm not a big prog fan, but if the vocals and riffs can draw you in as well as they do here, it all just comes together nicely. To those who enjoy the likes of "Undead" or "Modus Vivendi", I really don't know how you'll fare against a much more progressive Tad Morose. However, if you try to take this album on its own terms, this is pretty frigging good!
