Whoa... Nice surprise here. I found Tsjuder's second album to be a bit of a letdown compared to their debut (but still good), but this third album by the Norwegian Black Metallers, let's put it simply, kicks some major ass. Think early Immortal and Marduk mixed with early Darkthrone and even some Strange Old Brew-and-later Carpathian Forest. The album is mostly fast-paced but also has mid-paced and slower, more atmospheric moments that borrow quite a bit from Carpathian Forest in style. Other than the high-speed extravaganza, the thrash-inspired riffage is still present and very welcome, giving a welcome "break" just at the right moments. Nothing too fancy, but quite headbangable and memorable. An interesting cover of Bathory's "Sacrifice" precedes the album closer "Morbid Lust", which clocks in at over 11 minutes of pure mayhem, pretty much encompassing all of the album's sounds in one single track. I've rarely heard such long songs from extreme metal bands such as Tsjuder, but they nailed this one pretty good, one proof of which being that it doesn't feel that long at all - it's just a great song from beginning to end, and makes you beg for more.

Tsjuder might not be the most original band out there, but they're good at what they do. If you're looking for some fast, aggressive and destructive Black Metal that'll get the adrenalin pumping, this one is absolutely worth a look.
