Following last year's astonishing At The Heart Of Winter, Damned In Black just had to be at least as good. Immortal has pretty much delivered on the expectations, with new bassist Iscariah now a regular band member. Damned In Black builds up on the "new" direction started with At The Heart Of Winter, but this time with a more aggressive, trashier sound. Overall the songs are not as melodic as some of the material of the previous album, but somehow they do feel a little like they could well have been on At The Heart Of Winter. Fans of the previous album will most certainly like this, and those who were a little disappointed may rejoin the ranks due to this album's more aggressive material.
The album contains 7 tracks totaling a little under 37 minutes, which in my opinion is a little short. Also, they have gone back to using a band picture for the cover, rather than spectacular artwork like the previous album. Somebody please tell them that they are not very good looking! :) A limited edition (15000 copies) is a box with some great artwork with the CD (regular edition) inside.
Like most Immortal material, this is a must-have. Get it.
