Review

I ordered this album after hearing more than a few people singing the praises of this band. Unlike the disappointment that followed after taking the advice of the same people and ordering the new Witchery album I can say those people have gotten back into my good graces (I am sure they were all scared too). "The haunted made me do it" kicks some major ass.

"The haunted made me do it" is the second release from The Haunted and this album being good really shouldn't be that big of a surprise considering there are former members of At The Gates in the band. I have to start with a word of warning. If you are looking for At The Gates pt II then you will not find it here. There are similarities but The Haunted is definitely their own band.

The Haunted play neo-thrash metal and they do it extremely well. This is perfect music to really get a pit going and although not having seen them live I can be sure by just listening to the album that this has to be a great band to see live. This album is just overflowing with killer riffs that just defy you to raise your fist and bang your head. This music reminds me of the thrash explosion of the late 80's from the Bay Area. I am not saying they have the same sound but they do have the same vibe working for them.

The only minor bitch I have about the album is how low the lead guitar is in the mix. There are times where the lead is so drowned out it is hard to tell when a lead is even being played. This is still a minor complaint considering how strong the rest of the album is. I just really hope I get the chance to see this band live sometime although living in a rural section of Iowa isn't really conducive to seeing lots of live metal shows who knows maybe I will get lucky…yeah right…heh.

Overall I would say if you are a fan of pure adrenaline producing thrash metal with great riffs you will definitely want to pick this up. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
