Forbidden Morals is the sophomore album from US thrash revivalists Void. The band channels the spirit of the classic Bay Area scene, drawing heavily from Testament while also nodding to Forbidden, Heathen, and even early Metallica. Void favor chunky, heavy, and meaty riffs over sheer speed, layering them with face-melting leads and the occasional touch of tech-thrash flair that brings Voïvod to mind.

Vocalist Jackson Davenport delivers a versatile performance, staying mostly in the mid-to-upper range with sharp, distorted highs and gritty midrange barks that give the songs extra bite. Highlights include the title track, "Judas Cradle," "Nine Blood Moons," and "Return of the Phantom," all of which showcase Void's knack for crafting menacing, riff-driven thrash that's tight, muscular, and full of attitude.

Void aren't reinventing the wheel, but Forbidden Morals proves they know exactly how to make it spin. This is top-quality, no-nonsense thrash metal.
