Debut for this one-man band from Austin, just down the road from me. This is Atmospheric Black Metal, but the melodies are highly atypical, with the background riffing using a good amount of major chord progressions and the keys often used to create a sound like a hunting horn in the far distance. It doesn't always work, mixing the clearer melodies with the atonal ones, but it does make for a sound that is not like what you have heard a hundred times before. The vocals are not amazing, and they are mixed too loud and use effects, but when this is instrumental, it is really unique and sometimes arresting music. |
