Fourth album by this UK band who have more than a touch of US Metal in their Euro sound. This reminds me a bit of Steel Prophet or even Liege Lord along with other UK bands like Dark Forest or Cloven Hoof. This album has hefty songs, with a closing 20-minute epic in "Andromeda Descending," which forges into straight-up prog territory with complicated songwriting and tightly syncopated vocal lines. It's not easy writing a genuine epic, and a lot of bands try it and just manage to make a long song, or several songs awkwardly mashed together, but this one stands up as a coherent composition, even if it drags some in places. Overall this band presents a tight, cohesive sound with a lot of texture and detail. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
