Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! After the 4th Altarage album called Succumb, I felt a little tired with their formula of weird and chaotic death metal, but then a year after that they returned with the noticeably different Sol corrupto, and so returned my enthusiasm. It was some kind of a reset. It started with death metal, but then took everyone by surprise and served... something different for the most part of it. And after a moment of creative cleansing, these three Spanish madmen are on a streak. Then the Cataract EP appeared, which was a nice introduction to Worst Case Scenario. Oh, man, what a juggernaut of an album! It's the same Altarage, yet kinda different. They managed to somehow refresh their style. There still is this feeling of unease, the tension, the experimental undertones and the overall sonic horror. Worst Case Scenario is an atonal beast that can do a lot of damage. It's just a blend of suffocating riffs, relentless drumming and howling vocals. But, boy, oh, boy, together these three ingredients form a real finger-licking delicacy. When the final riff stops, it feels like the world has ended, like the worst-case scenario actually happened. And that's the ultimate characteristic of a killer album.
