I usually listen to a quick sample of a promo before downloading it, but I must say that in this case I didn't bother because I loved the artwork. It wasn't unlike when you're at the record store and you grab an album based on the artwork alone. This is old-school, putrid, raw death metal that does away with anything fancy or modern or whatever bullshit some bands throw at you to sound original. Just speedy, in-your-face, raw, all-hell-breaks loose death metal delivered with a savage yet kind of homey attitude. Lots of speed here, yes, but the slower passages are quite poignant as well, adding a bit of a creepy vibe to go along with the bullet-train speed that a lot of the album is about. The razor-sharp guitar work is what gets me the most, just slicing the eardrums, but the deep but sharp growls also add a lot to the music. It's one of those albums I can listen to on repeat several times and not feel the urge to switch to something else. Good stuff. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
