Three albums into their second life, Medieval Steel are the band that wouldn't die. Essentially unknown in their day, Internet circulation of their killer 1984 EP made them a going concern again, and now we have their latest just 2 years after Gods of Steel. I thought Gods of Steel was killer, but this one is a bit of a step back. The band sounds sharp and tight, vocalist Bobby Franklin can still get it done, and that classic US-Metal sound is solidly in place. That said, the songwriting is weaker this time out, with more repetition and vocal lines that are not as good to start with and don't benefit from being repeated too many times. This is not a bad album, but it can't match what this band has done before. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
