This is some really sweet take-no-prisoners death metal (the promo sheet says something about "Zombiecult Death Metal"). An old-school vibe but with a more modern breakneck speed and technicality, bone-chilling growls and horror-like spoken passages, a dark, filthy atmosphere that oozes a gory feeling; there's a lot to like here. Mausoleum sure know how to live up to their name and the album's name on this one. Slower passages crank up the creepy factor to 11, reminding me a bit of the '70s occult and horror music that scared us when I was a kid. If you like horror and gore done with taste in your death metal, check this one out. |
