I liked this band's EP from a few years back, so I was glad to get this one. This band has a bit of an identity crisis, because the cover and logo make this look like some kind of psychedelic Doom, but this is definitely not that. There is a strong Doom element to their sound, but really this band sounds more like old Celtic Frost by way of Lair of the Minotaur or Usurper with pummeling riffs, harsh vocals, and an aura of malevolence. This kind of thing lives and dies on the riffs, and the riffs here are really good, with a Heavy/Doom vibe kind of like Argus or Orodruin paired with Hellhammer-styled vocal grunts and songwriting that is aggressive but not simplistic. This defies easy categorization because it is harking back to the time before we had a zillion subgenres. What this is, is a bludgeoning good time with heaviness to spare. If you like any of the bands I've mentioned here, then you will like this too. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
