There are a lot of one-man bands out there, but one-woman bands remain a rarer occurrence. This is the third independent full-length release from this project since 2020, alongside no less than a dozen singles and an EP, so sole bandmember Sofia Frasz has been pretty productive. This reminds me of similarly eclectic goth-flavored bands like Nicodemus or Autumns Eyes mixing together harsh vocals, smooth gothic singing, keys, symphonic accents, doomy riffs and gloomy atmosphere. I can see what Frasz is going for here, but I don't think the songwriting is quite there yet, as this has a lot of good bits, but is overall pretty disjointed. This really sounds like something that should have been released on Dark Symphonies like 20 years ago, for anyone who even knows what I mean by that. I find this interesting, if not compelling. |
