This is the debut album for this Italian band that's been around since 2009, releasing only an EP, a demo and some singles before this. This is heavy/power/speed metal very faithful to the European style. Upbeat, catchy tunes with high-pitched vocals that deliver multitudes of singalong-inducing choruses, lots of speedy guitar work and thundering drums, the works. This style is often overpolished but Crimson Storm didn't fall into that trap, rather delivering a crunchy sound that's a little on the raw side, yet clean enough that it should satisfy most nitpickers. Livin' On the Bad Side is a very energetic album that melds together most, if not all elements that make heavy, power and speed metal so much fun and addictive. Get your air guitar and air drums ready and book an appointment with your chiropractor to look after that neck after all that headbanging. |
