The band and album names don't prepare you for what's on this album. Depressive Witches is a black 'n' roll band, or more accurately I'd say they're more black/thrash 'n' roll. So there's nothing depressing here, and you sure won't feel heartbroken if you buy this album. ;) This is a hell of a lot of fun from beginning to end. I can hear a lot of influences in here, anything from AC/DC to Motörhead to Judas Priest and even Witchery. The vocals certainly made me think more of Witchery (not quite the same, but that's where my mind went) though there are some cleaner passages here and there. This is heavy and melodic stuff, and the rock 'n' roll vibe is present throughout, making the album infectiously catchy. I had most of the songs stuck in my head after one listen. Not a boring moment, just thrashing and rolling in a blackened sauce all the way through. I found these guys on Spotify and I wonder why I hadn't heard of them before. This is their third album since 2021, so they're keeping busy and are strangely unsigned. I've got some catching up to do. |
