On their sixth album, Colombia's Witchtrap are still clearly aiming to hit that classic proto-Thrash vibe of stuff like the early days of Destruction, Onslaught, or Slayer, but they really sound more like other bands who are also trying to do that. Nocturnal, Deathhammer, Witchburner are all bands that are doing this same kind of fast-and-loose riff attack. Witchtrap have always been pretty rough, and this album shows them getting tighter without losing the underground vibe. A lot of these riffs sound pretty familiar, and they often get repeated far too much, but the band has a lot of energy and keeps it cranked. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
