Cool band name that would work well as a horror movie title. Deadened Nerves sounds overall like death/thrash, mostly on the extreme end of thrash with lots of speed and meaty riffs, but also some death-like heaviness. It's pretty chaotic stuff in the speedier moments, enough to kill everyone trying to keep up in a mosh pit. There's a bit of a punk vibe going on here and there as well as hints of early, dirty heavy metal, kind of borderline first-wave black metal and you can throw in some crossover as well. By now you probably got the hint, Torturer's Lobby mixed a lot of influences on this album, and the good news is that they do it well. Overall the songs come off sounding raw and catchy, with occasional melodic moments when they take a breather from the breakneck speed. Once this is over, you're left wondering what the hell just hit you. |
