I hadn't heard these guys since seeing them live some 24 years ago. Basically a death metal band, The Blood of Christ mix things up a little by introducing some "dark metal" elements as well as a lot of melody and even a hint of a folky vibe on Sworn Trilogy. Throw in some of their more brutal death metal roots for seasoning, and what they have here is actually quite refreshing, especially considering how so many bands "sound the same" these days. The alternance between very melodic music and full-on blasting death metal takes some getting used to, but it's cool if you're in the mood for something a little weird. This is probably too all over the place for its own good but then again, an EP is a good place to do this, and it's definitely worth a listen if you're looking for something different.
