I reviewed Thorium's debut back in 2018, which I found to be a decent power metal effort. Album three, Extraordinary Journeys Pt. 1 is more of the same from this band, balancing the crunchy and melodic ends of the power metal spectrum. "Bushido!" really cranks up the riff work like on those early Wizard albums and "Nightfall" mixes in some vocal stylings not far removed from Edguy. It is a well-written and performed album with nothing particularly extraordinary but nothing bad either, just song after song of solid metal. Fans of power metal with a bit of Iron Maiden-style trad metal thrown in should check it out. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
