I can't help but think of the dickhead in The Mandalorian when I see the skeleton with a cowboy hat on the cover. ;) I haven't heard this band's previous material, but if it's anything like Showdown, it's gotta be pretty cool. The band play '80s-style heavy metal, with some very obvious Maiden influences here and there in the guitar work as well as some more obscure NWOBHM material. Mega Colossus seem to be playing to two camps here, with several songs being straightforward '80s heavy metal with plenty of crunch and power, but we also find some much more accessible songs that come off sounding very commercial, not unlike some radio-friendly glam metal (from the bands that didn't suck). It's a bit of a clash of styles, but they make it work. Nothing especially aggressive or too raw here, this is clean, fun, catchy heavy metal, and sometimes that's exactly what the doctor ordered.
