Sometimes Spotify recommendations let you unearth some little gems, and this is one of them. This is a project two guys from Serbia and Mexico and so far that's their only release. Kill the Plague is filled with abrasive, raw black/thrash. There's absolutely nothing fancy here, it's about as straightforward as it gets in the genre, but the whole EP just slays from beginning to end. The harsh vocals are easy to understand, but sound hateful and dark as fuck. The guitars and drums work in harmony to create one hell of a headbanging fest; I have a really hard time not going crazy while this is on as it just calls for the air guitar or simply slamming into walls. At a minimum, there's head bobbing. The raw, razor-sharp riffs are downright addictive. Green Mantis ventured into a crowded genre with this one and brought nothing new to the table, but the completely in-your-face attitude is what matters and, well, they don't just get in your face with this one, they smash it repeatedly against the pavement. It looks like this may have been a one-off kind of project, but with any luck they'll get together again and offer us more of this stuff in the future. |
