Well, damn. I liked To Live is to Suffer, Jenner's previous album from 2017, but on Prove Them Wrong the band has improved in about all aspects. The songs are catchier; several of them tend to stick around once the album is over, and it shouldn't be legal to have catchy vocal melodies like on the chorus in "Not Even You" (good luck not having it stuck in your head after one listen). Jenner are still working their brand of thrashy heavy metal, but it's much more refined here. Lots of speed, the guitars pack a lot of crunch and the melodies are often over the top, yet they don't water down the music: it still rocks pretty damn hard. The same goes for the vocals, which mix a very melodic and clean style with a harsher one that really gels well with the thrashier parts. The mid-80s influences are still obvious, with more than one passage reminding me of the harsher thrash bands like Kreator back in the day (this doesn't sound like Kreator, but I'm sure they've listened to the German legends' early stuff). Whether it's the melodic or thrashy stuff, Prove Them Wrong is a hell of a lot of fun, with a positive vibe at times, and a downright party-all-night-long thrashorama at others, something that will get you to headbang until you drop.
