Unholy speedfest, Batman! This band formed way back in 2004, with a full-length in 2008, and now this EP shows up 15 years later. This is crazy fast heavy/speed/thrash metal that reminds me of a few obscure speed and thrash bands I heard back in the '80s, just played at twice the speed (well, more or less; you get the idea). It's so fast at times that the music is almost like a blur, and you really need to stop and pay attention for it to really sink in—multiple listens are a must. When the guitars don't sound like a tornado of razor slashing your face, they drop to a much slower pace and get crunchy and heavy and the solos get a chance to shine. The drummer is keeping up somehow, blasting away like there's no tomorrow. It's a short EP, but you'll get tired just trying to keep up. Hopefully, a full-length is on the horizon. |
