This band is certainly well named, as the 4-minute intro is a chilling, dark track that must be what it sounds like being stuck in a pitch-black devil's lair, cowering in a corner as the beast is slowly moving in for the kill. A perfect opening for the savage, obscure, devilish black metal that makes up the rest of the album. The discreet rasps are nightmarish, reminding me of suspenseful horror movies that bank more on the unseen than on gore for effect. Musically, it's mostly fast black metal with the expected slower passages, nothing you can't hear anywhere else, but the chilling, nightmarish atmosphere can be felt throughout and that's really what makes the beauty of this album, the band delivering their dark art with an effectiveness that is not so common as their music style. Great stuff to listen to in the dark. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
