Been a long time since I heard from this band, who have not released anything in 12 years. They put out Beyond the Threshold of Reality in 2011, but they reportedly hate the recording on it and are redoing it for a rerelease. This is an EP put together to build some excitement before that release. This is a band that plays a hybridized stripe of metal that uses Trad Metal riffing with Death-styled vocals for a distinctive sound. The riffs are crunchy and hooky, while the vocals spew forth a multitracked hell reminiscent of Deicide. I do wish the recording was a little heavier and dirtier, as I think some more murk in the works would make this sound that much more arcane, but there is quite a lot of melodic work here that would not show up as well if that were the case. I like the songwriting on here, I just want it to kick harder. See below for more reviews... ↓ |
