I am not normally much of a fan of Greek Black Metal, as several of the luminaries of the field like Varathron and Rotting Christ just leave me bored. Auriferous Flame do not really fit into the Greek sound, and so I find them a lot more interesting. This is Black Metal much more in the Scandinavian, second-wave style, with similarities to Emperor as well as bands like Blut Aus Nord or Lunar Aurora. Satisfying heaviness, chaotic and aggressive riffing, and a lot of atmosphere reminds me of the sounds of the '90s when Black Metal bands first really started experimenting with melody and mood.
