I've been hearing about this band for a while but never got around to checking them out before now. This is not a new studio album, but rather a compilation of songs from splits, bonus content, compilation appearances and even unreleased tracks. They play a very melodic brand of heavy metal, not as close to the old stuff as it is to newer epic metal bands like Atlantean Kodex, meaning very competent musicianship and a very, very clean sound and production—a couple of songs on here would pack more punch with a rawer sound. The album ends with an acoustic track, something I'm not fond of (acoustic track AND acoustic album closer :)). It's actually a good, beautiful song, but at the end of an album, this always gives me the dreadful feeling of the end of the evening on a Sunday and tomorrow is Monday—not a good feeling! :) But I digress. The album has a couple of really good, fast rockers like opener "Vision in Flames" and "Storm Catcher," but quite a few mellower songs that feel a bit like a let-down after such a strong opening track—your mileage may vary. I can't say I remember much of it once it's over and I don't feel the urge to reach for it, but it's good while it's on and there's no filler to be found. If you like clean, borderline epic heavy metal with a decent dose of air-guitar moments, you'll find that here.
