Tailgunner's first album includes the tracks from 2022's Crashdive, so if you own that one, there's "only" about 28 minutes of new music. The good news is that the new songs are very much in the same vein as those on Crashdive, so if you liked it, this album is guaranteed to be up your alley. Old-school heavy metal, unoriginal but very well executed, is what Tailgunner are all about. There's a Maiden meets Riot thing going on here, so it's a little bundle of cool riffs, catchy tunes, singalong-inducing vocal lines, and an overall positive and fun vibe—i.e., this is not dark stuff. There isn't much more to say; if you like classic catchy '80s heavy metal, Guns for Hire contains all the expected ingredients, nothing more, nothing less, and that's just fine.
