Ok, I have to admit it right out, what made me check out this band was a picture of vocalist Sabine Edelsbacher I saw on a metal news website... What can I say, she is definitely one the finest looking women I've seen! :). Ok, now bringing the testosterone levels down so I can talk about the music. I've seen this band compared a lot to Nightwish, and I fail to see why, beside the fact that they have a female vocalist. The music and the vocals are quite different, so Edenbridge is in NO way a Nightwish clone. First off, the music is more melodic, less "power metal", but still heavy where it needs to be. The keyboards are not too intrusive, something I always appreciate in a band that uses them. The albums has a good balance of fast-paced songs and ballads, not overdoing it on either. Now for the vocals. Sabine's vocal range is pretty impressive, and she does an excellent job at sustaining the high notes. I read an interview in which her voice is compared to that of an angel, and I have to agree with that description - no matter how low or high she's singing, the vocals are simply a joy to listen to. I don't know what her background is, but she sure has excellent control of her voice.

This is a very impressive first album from Edenbridge, not only is the music very well done, but so is the booklet. I also want to mention that it seems like a lot of work went into the lyrics, they definitely don't look like an afterthought, and the way they are sung makes them just flow with the music - they're a bit on the cheesy side, but don't we say that of any positive lyrics? If you are into melodic metal, you want to buy this.
