This is so Greek I could tell where it was from just looking at the track list. This is Heavy Metal with a lot of little bits of seasoning on it: some epic stylings, some prog flavor, some doom. The performances are first-rate, the production is big and booming, and bassist/vocalist Antonis Vailas is definitely under the sway of Eric Adams and does a pretty good job of showing off his range and power—even if I think he overdoes it sometimes. This band is absolutely all about Manowar in more than one way, but their overall songwriting is not quite as strong as they would like it to be. Good recording and a lot of high-pitched wails can't get you past everything on their own. Still, an enjoyable album, even if it seems like the band is trying a little too hard. |
