Termination Force is a new band (formed in 2021) out of Southampton in the United Kingdom that plays fist-pumping traditional metal with hints of prog on their debut EP, Netherworld. The music is generally up-tempo and never drags, which is a plus and there are a few really solid hooks, especially on tracks like "Termination Force" and "Netherworld." Singer Rich Rutter (also in the band Toledo Steel) has a strong delivery and isn’t afraid to explore vocal lines that you might not expect but still serve the songs well. He reminds me of Bruce Turnbull (Starborn, former Metal Crypt contributor) who also wasn’t afraid to explore the paths blazed by singers like John Arch. There isn’t anything on Netherworld that is amazing but, for an EP, it is very well put together with a good sound, tight playing and focused songwriting. A solid debut. |
