Another day, another classic album missing from the Crypt that I have to cover, in this case Slayer's first live album. I was only able to catch them on their Clash of the Titans tour, and by that time they were more commercial sounding and less feral, so it's a damn good thing they released this album so I could know just how vicious and energetic they used to be. This was a formative release for me due to just how evil and merciless it all was in comparison to anything else out there, and I've been a die-hard fan ever since. Hell, even today the blazing speed and unbridled ferocity of the tracks on here beat the piss out of the live performances of many modern bands, for who can really compare to Slayer in their absolute prime? If you somehow missed out on Slayer's now legendary early run or simply never heard their early works live during the early days, I'm willing to bet this album will convert you as well. An essential release that will remind you why we made a big deal out of the band in the first place.
